THE LEECHY PROTECTION PLAN IS NOT INSURANCE. This is a limited platform protection service provided directly by Leechy to help protect against certain types of damage or loss during rentals. This program does not provide insurance coverage and is not regulated by insurance authorities.
For vehicle rentals (cars, motorcycles, etc.), you MUST obtain your own auto insurance. The Leechy Protection Plan does not cover vehicles.
The Leechy Protection Plan is an optional service that provides limited coverage for eligible rental items against damage or loss during the rental period. By opting into this program at checkout, you agree to these terms.

Note: Vehicle renters must obtain their own auto insurance or vehicle protection coverage.
Only the listing owner may file claims for damage or loss to their property. Renters cannot file protection claims.
Maximum payout for a claim is equal to the base rental subtotal for that booking (excluding fees, deposits, and protection fee itself). Claims may be approved for partial amounts at Leechy's sole discretion.

Claims must be filed within 7 days of the rental end date. Late claims will be automatically rejected.

Claims are submitted through the Leechy app in the booking details screen. You will receive email confirmation upon submission.
Leechy will review claims within 10-14 business days of submission. Complex cases may require additional time.
All claim decisions are at Leechy's sole discretion. Factors we consider include: evidence quality, item condition before rental, renter's account history, owner's account history, and likelihood that damage occurred during the rental period.

Claim decisions are final. We do not offer a formal appeals process, but you may contact support with new evidence.
Approved claim payouts are processed through your Leechy payout method (Stripe Connect account). You must have a verified payout method on file.
Payouts are initiated within 5 business days of claim approval. Actual receipt depends on your bank or payment processor.
Protection payouts may be considered taxable income. Leechy will report payouts as required by law. Consult your tax advisor.
Leechy has a zero-tolerance policy for fraudulent claims. This includes: false damage reports, exaggerated repair costs, staged theft, collusion between owner and renter, reusing old damage photos, and claims for pre-existing damage.
Users found submitting fraudulent claims may face: immediate account suspension, forfeiture of any pending payouts, recovery of previous payouts, permanent ban from Leechy, and referral to law enforcement if criminal fraud is suspected.
Leechy reserves the right to investigate suspicious claims, request additional documentation, contact renters for statements, and withhold payouts during investigation.
If your listing has a security deposit, you should first attempt to recover damages from the deposit. The Protection Plan is intended as secondary coverage if the deposit is insufficient.
You may claim protection even if you collected a security deposit, but the protection payout will be reduced by any amount recovered from the deposit.
The Protection Plan does not guarantee that your claim will be approved or that you will be made whole for any damage or loss.
This program is not a substitute for commercial insurance. If you rent high-value items frequently, consider obtaining business or rental insurance.
Leechy's total liability under this program is limited to the maximum coverage amount (rental subtotal). We are not liable for consequential, incidental, or punitive damages.
Leechy reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the Protection Plan at any time. Changes will not affect existing bookings with protection already purchased.
When you opt into protection, we collect: timestamp, IP address, device information, and terms version accepted.
Claim submissions include: photos and evidence, description of damage/loss, communication records, and review notes.
This data is used solely for: processing your claim, fraud prevention, program improvement, and legal compliance. See Leechy's Privacy Policy for complete details.
Leechy may update these terms at any time. Changes will be posted with a new version number, take effect for new bookings immediately, and will NOT affect existing bookings (your booking is governed by the version you accepted).
We'll notify you of material changes via: email to your registered address, in-app notification, and prompt at next checkout.
Your booking records show which version of terms you accepted. That version governs your protection coverage for that specific booking.
These Protection Terms are supplemental to Leechy's Terms of Service. In case of conflict, these Protection Terms control for protection-related matters.
These terms constitute the complete agreement regarding the Protection Plan.
If any provision is found invalid, the rest remains in effect.
Leechy's failure to enforce any provision doesn't waive our right to enforce it later.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
